We are Plumbers!!!

So, for the longest time our bathroom tub faucet leaked, it got worse and worse and finally maxed out at about 5 gallons in 24 hours, that is my guess anyway. I kept saying that we need to call a plumber and get it fixed, cause we don't know anything about plumbing ourselves. However, Nate kept putting it off, cause he thought it was such a small thing, and we could do it on our own. He went to the library and got a whole bunch of books on plumbing and read up on it. He was going to try and fix the faucet on his own, but we didn't have shut offs behind the tub, so we called a plumber in to put some in, and the plumber said he wouldn't even touch the old tub faucet to repair it since it was so old and corroded.

The plumber told Nate what kind of faucet we needed and I went to Home Depot and bought a cheap one, since we eventually want to redo the bathroom anyway. While I was there I saw a really cool sink faucet, ours is old and nasty, so I figured the plumber could put it in while he was there anyways.

The plumber came out the next day and I was so excited to see how the new sink faucet looked when I got home, but was disappointed to see it still in the box in the kitchen. However the tub faucet was replaced with the new one. WHAT, I didn't understand why one and not the other. I called Nate and found out he forgot to mention to the plumber to put in the new sink faucet. Nate said this was ok though, HE could put in the sink faucet himself, he read about plumbing.

So Saturday rolls around and I am planning to use this day to study, I had test the following Monday. Nate is planning to replace the faucet. He looked though the tools and supplies we have here and went to the store and got a few he things he needed, then took out the old faucet. He started having problems when it came to putting in the new one. He knew what to do, but was unsure about how to place the plumbers putty around the underside of the faucet and had trouble with using the basin wrench to get the new one attached. So at this point he called me in to be the hands in the project and he explained to me what to do. In the end it turned out great! Now we are plumbers, as long as we work as a team!

Old, leaky faucet

New, cheap, not leaky faucet

A very serious plumber, not in the traditional plumber's pose however.

At this point in the project the new faucet is just sitting on top, nothing is reattached.

Old and ugly

New, shiny and pretty!

Laundry Room Makeover!

So our Laundry room is down stairs and it was dark and it had just plain white walls, just blah. And doing laundry is already no fun, let alone doing laundry in a boring laundry area. Soooo, I put some of my leftover paint from other rooms together to make a great color combo and spiffied up the place. A new washer and dryer that we got last fall also make the room look sleek, clean and cheery. Now I just have to keep the piles of dirty clothes to a minimum!

Ladies Craft Night - April & May

So we have the Craft night planned for April and May.

April Craft Night will be this Thursday the 17th @ Color Me Mine, @ 7:00 PM. It is located North Broadway across from Shopko and the theater. There will be a $5 studio fee, plus the cost of the pottery you choose to paint. If you have anyone you want to make a present for, birthdays coming up, Mother's Day, weddings and such, this would make a great gift. You can also visit the Color Me Mine site to get an idea of what we will be doing.

May Craft Night will be on Tuesday May 6th, at Mary's house, @ 7:00 PM. We will be potting flowers so bring a planter or a hanging basket, potting soil if you want anything special, otherwise Mary will have plain old dirt there. Also bring 12 flowers or greenery plants to exchange with everyone else who brings plants. This way we will all end up with a variety and hopefully some beautiful pots of flowers.
If you want to go wild you could mix it up and bring several different kinds of flowers, not just 12 of the same, or do two pots and bring 24 plants (you may want to bring your own soil if you do two). Actually if you want to get a head start have your pot or basket prefilled, so you only have to add the plants and a little topsoil to set them in.

I have also decided to set up a calling tree so I don't have to individually call the 20 ladies that have expressed interest in the craft nights. I will notify the callers on Thursday or next month @ Mary's, hope you can make it!

Roses and Don't Take My Picture!

Last Thursday Nate brought home a dozen red roses just because. I never get flowers, so this was nice!

On Friday Nate tried to turn the table and take a picture of me, this is what he got!
I don't like it when the lens is pointed in my direction!

Supper on Monday night.

This weekend Craig and Lani are coming up to stay. Lani and Kayla (is Brendan running too?) are going to be running in a 20 k on Saturday, I hope they have good weather. Nate and I are looking forward to the visit!

Bette Davis Eyes
Her hair is Harlowe gold, Her lips sweet surprise
Her hands are never cold, She's got Bette Davis eyes
She'll turn her music on you, You won't have to think twice
She's pure as New York snow, She got Bette Davis eyes

And she'll tease you, She'll unease you
All the better just to please you, She's precocious and she knows just
What it takes to make a pro blush, She got Greta Garbo stand off sighs
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll let you take her home, It whets her appetite
She'll lay you on her throne, She got Bette Davis eyes
She'll take a tumble on you, Roll you like you were dice
Until you come out blue, She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll expose you, when she snows you, Off your feet with the crumbs she throws you
She's ferocious and she knows just, What it takes to make a pro blush
All the boys think she's a spy, She's got Bette Davis eyes

And she'll tease you, She'll unease you
All the better just to please ya, She's precocious, and she knows just
What it takes to make a pro blush, All the boys think she's a spy
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll tease you, She'll unease you
Just to please ya, She's got Bette Davis eyes
She'll expose you, when she snows you
She knows ya, She's got Bette Davis eyes

Alyssa's Suprise B-day and Brady

A few weeks ago we surprised Alyssa with a birthday supper at their warehouse. Amber and Brady were down and I got some cute pictures of him with his Grandma. Here are some of the pictures.

Carrots with cheese, turkey sandwiches, hash brown potatoes, apples and strawberries with caramel sauce. Mmmmmm.
